Jerry served as Lead Pastor at Riverdale from 1997-2008, after coming from a missionary appointment to France for 8 years. He and his wife Gloria have been in the pastorate for over 40 years. Jerry’s desire is for evangelism and he enjoys being a chaplain for local law enforcement agencies.
Q&A With Pastor Jerry
1. What was your first job?
I sold eggs on an egg route, door-to-door.
2. Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised right here in Flint.
3. What do you love most about Riverdale Baptist Church?
The way Riverdale accepts everyone.
4. What is your favorite quote?
“When you want something you’ve never had, you must do something you’ve never done.“
5. What is the one thing most people don’t know about you?
I serve as the chaplain for the Flint Township Police and Genesee County Sheriff’s Dept.
6. What is your family like?
My wife Gloria and I have been married for 45 years. We are blessed with 2 married songs and 6 grandchildren.
7. Who is someone you admire?
My father. He was a wonderful Christian example and a great role model. His consistent walk with God was a tremendous influence in my life.
8. What do you love most about your job?
I enjoy people – and being able to share the news of God’s grace!
9. What is your favorite passage of Scripture?
Romans 8:1 – “There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.“
10. What inspires you?
To realize how good God has been to me, a sinner saved by His glorious grace – and allowed me to minister for almost 50 years.
