Q&A With Pastor Cory
1. What was your first job?
When I was in the 8th grade I worked on a farm bailing hay for $2/hour. It lasted only a couple weeks, since I’m allergic to hay.
2. Where did you grow up?
In a little town called Breesport in upstate New York. By the way, Breesport is no where near New York City, but I still feel that I have the right to call myself a true Yankees fan.
3. What do you love most about Riverdale Baptist Church?
I love being surrounded by a community of believers who support and encourage each other as we “run the race” together.
4. What is your favorite quote?
“My greatest fear in life is not that I will be a failure, but that I will be a success at that which does not matter.” – Dwight Peterson
5. What is the one thing most people don’t know about you?
I can be extremely shy; I’m not naturally a people-person.
6. What is your family like?
My family is a blessing from God that I in no way deserve. When it comes to my wife, Carrie, I totally over-achieved! When it comes to my two children, Autumn and Reed, I am extremely proud! We love being together!
7. Who is someone you admire?
I look up to my parents. They’ve been in full-time ministry for over 30 years and still going strong! I can only hope that my wife and I can be as effective as a tag-team as my mom and dad are.
8. What do you love most about your job?
I have a job that allows me to use, on a daily basis, the spiritual gifts that God has given me. That’s a privilege that many people don’t have.
9. What is your favorite passage of Scripture?
I Corinthians 15:58 – “Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the lord, because you know that your labor is not in vain.“
10. What inspires you?
A church is culturally relevant and biblically sound at the same time! I have this idea that a church can be attractive to others while not compromising God’s Word. That’s what I want for Riverdale.
